Local Priorities Mobile phone theft Update

I wanted to provide an update regarding Mobile phone theft, which some members around this area have highlighted as an issue of concern on the Met Engage priority survey.

I would like to provide an update regarding recent mobile phone thefts in the area. Over the past four days, there has been one reported incident, involving a mobile phone being snatched directly from a victim’s hand outside Primark. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing.
While investigations continue, we would like to remind members of the public to take simple steps to reduce the risk of becoming a target for phone theft:

Avoid using your phone openly near busy roads or public thoroughfares
Keep your phone securely in a pocket or bag when not in use
Be aware of your surroundings, particularly when distracted
Consider holding your phone away from the road/pavement edge
Enable tracking and security features on your device

Officers will continue to patrol the area and provide reassurance. Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour.
